Mark Brittingham The album breaks some really interesting new ground in prog. The musicianship is absolutely top-flight throughout but DLS achieves something special and unexpected by mixing in Beto Valtierra's sax work with thoughtfully paced and beautifully melodic prog. You might think that this is "easy" prog (i.e. like Porcupine Tree's Lazarus) but a closer listen reveals layer after layer of deftly woven music that has to be heard to be appreciated. Favorite track: Farewell.

I don't think there's any band that sounds quite like Skull Servant does. The songs hit hard and heavy while maintaining a strong melody, and the two singers provide a contrast that makes every song feel unique. The crunchy guitar and bass tone puts a lot of power behind the riffs, and the songwriting and arrangement makes this feel like a concept album. If there's one thing Skull Servant does best, it's creating music that is dynamic and ever changing. revengebymagick
